Madhurima Das is a research scholar who received her postgraduate degrees from the University of Oregon and completed her Masters from Jadavpur University, India. She has taught courses on Feminist Studies, Gender, Social Inequality and Sociological theories in the Sociology and Women’s and Gender Studies departments at the University of Oregon. Her research transnationally examines the role of middle-class parenting among immigrant mothers in Edison, New Jersey and mothers in Kolkata, India. This transnational project not only situates parenting within the private space of the household but also examines its relation with broader phenomena like globalization of the labor force and its contextual relationship with the economy.
