Sabrina Marchetti is Associate Professor in Sociology (SPS/08) at University Ca’ Foscari in Venice.

She is mainly specialised on issues of gender, racism, labour and migration, with a specific focus on the question of migrant domestic work.

She defended her PHD at the Graduate Gender Programme of Utrecht University in 2010. From 2011 till 2016, she has worked at the European University Institute as a Marie Curie Fellow and Jean Monnet Fellow. She has been post-doctoral fellow at the Gender Excellence Programme of Linköping University. She has collaborated with the International Centre for Development and Decent Work of Kassel University in Germany and with the Metropolitan University in London. She has also worked for NGOs and non-academic research institutes. She has won research grants from the European Commission, the European Science Foundation, the University of Utrecht and Sapienza University in Rome. She is the reference person for Europe of the Research Network for Domestic Workers’ Rights.

Anna Di Bartolomeo holds a Ph.D. in Demography from the University of Rome “Sapienza”. She was also educated at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research in Rostock and the Institute National d’Etudes Démographiques in Paris.

She is currently Senior Research Fellow at the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice for the DomEqual Project after working at the Migration Policy Centre, European University Institute as a Research Fellow.

Her research interests embrace domestic work; gender and migration; immigrants’ children and education; the integration of migrants.

Beatrice Gusmano is a sociologist, and defended her PhD dissertation at the University of Trento (Italy) in 2009, with a thesis on the construction and management of non-heterosexual identities at work.

Her recent focus was on LGBTQ relationships, lesbian motherhood through ARTs, and LGB friendship/cohabitation within the project “INTIMATE – Citizenship, Care and Choice: The Micropolitics of Intimacy in Southern Europe” (2014-2019), funded by the European Research Council and based at CES – Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra (Portugal).

She also worked on LGBT local public policies in Europe and in Italy; work access networks for ex-convicts; bullying and gender education; diversity management. She is a board member of the RN 23 on Sexualities of ESA, and coordinator of the research group DECIDe on Democracy, citizenship, law and justice at CES.

Maria Fernanda Cepeda is a Colombian anthropologist. She holds a Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Politics and Art from the Gallatin School of Individualized Studies at the New York University. Madhurima Das is a research scholar who received her postgraduate degrees from the University of Oregon and completed her Masters from Jadavpur University, India. She has taught courses on Feminist Studies, Gender, Social Inequality and Sociological theories in the Sociology and Women’s and Gender Studies departments at the University of Oregon. Her research transnationally examines the role of middle-class parenting among immigrant mothers in Edison, New Jersey and mothers in Kolkata, India. This transnational project not only situates parenting within the private space of the household but also examines its relation with broader phenomena like globalization of the labor force and its contextual relationship with the economy.

Verna Viajar is currently a PhD Fellow at the Graduate School of Socio-Ecological Research for Development of the International Center for Development and Decent Work (ICDD) in University of Kassel, Germany. She acquired her Master of Arts in Labor Policies and Globalization at the Global Labor University (GLU) program in 2005 at the University of Kassel and Berlin School of Economics. Prior to that, Ms. Viajar worked for a labor-education NGO in 1991-1998 and 2002-2012 as Trade Union Education Program Coordinator and Senior Researcher, respectively. She has been working with the Philippine labor movement since finishing her Bachelors degree on Political Science from the University of the Philippines.

Her research interests are on political-economy; migration and labor studies; Southeast Asian politics and government; and trade union and social movement studies.
